Dream House, a collaborative Sound and Light Environment, is presented in an extended exhibition by La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela and Jung Hee Choi at MELA Foundation, 275 Church Street, 3rd Floor. The long-term Dream House exhibition opened in Fall 1993; it will continue for this season through June 20, 2024. The environment is open Wednesday through Saturday from 2 pm to midnight. Admission is $10.00.
To celebrate the thirtieth season of the MELA Dream House, we will be presenting the sound and light works from the original 1993 installation, as well as the premiere presentation of Choi's two light works and concurrent sound environment.
In December, Dia Art Foundation released the first-ever official recording of La Monte Young's Trio for Strings (1958), recorded live from the La Monte Young Marian Zazeela Jung Hee Choi Dream House at Dia:Chelsea in 2015 and performed by The Theatre of Eternal Music String Ensemble led by Charles Curtis. The box set features a cover designed by Choi with calligraphy by Zazeela, and includes four discs and a 32-page set of liner notes with essays by Young, Zazeela and Choi.

A collaborative Sound and Light Environment by La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela and Jung Hee Choi will be presented at Galerie l'elac, Lausanne, Switzerland. This Swiss premiere of the Dream House, titled Lausanne Dream House, is presented as part of the 200th anniversary celebration of the ECAL (1821-2021) and the research project, HES-SO "Phantom Power". The environment will open on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at 6 pm and continue through January 28, 2022.
MELA Foundation is seeking interns for unpaid, volunteer positions of Monitor for the Dream House exhibition.
In the current collaborative Sound and Light Environment by La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela and Jung Hee Choi, the new configuration of the Young and Choi collaborative sound environment is presented within the ongoing Zazeela and Choi site-specific light environment. In the light environment Zazeela presents three works: Abstract #1 from Quadrilateral Phase Angle Trvaersals, Ruine Window 1992 from Still Light and Dream House Variation I. Choi presents two works: Environmental Composition 2017 #1 and Color (CNN), live realization.

Hours | Exhibition is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 2:00 PM to Midnight. Time slots from 1:30 to 6:30pm and 6:15pm to Midnight need to be filled on each of those days. |
