Admission: $10.00La Monte Young will discuss his composition Trio for Strings (1958) with his longtime collaborator Jung Hee Choi in a conversation moderated by ARTnews deputy editor and sound-art curator Andy Battaglia. This conversation is organized in conjunction with the first official release of Young’s Trio for Strings, which was recorded live from the Dream House, a legendary sound-and-light installation by Young, Marian Zazeela, and Choi at Dia Chelsea in 2015.

In December, Dia Art Foundation released the first-ever official recording of La Monte Young’s Trio for Strings (1958), recorded live from the La Monte Young Marian Zazeela Jung Hee Choi Dream House at Dia:Chelsea in 2015 and performed by The Theatre of Eternal Music String Ensemble led by Charles Curtis. The box set features a cover designed by Choi with calligraphy by Zazeela, and includes four discs and a 32-page set of liner notes with essays by Young, Zazeela and Choi.

A collaborative Sound and Light Environment by La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela and Jung Hee Choi will be presented at Galerie l’elac, Lausanne, Switzerland. This Swiss premiere of the Dream House, titled Lausanne Dream House, is presented as part of the 200th anniversary celebration of the ECAL (1821-2021) and the research project, HES-SO "Phantom Power". The environment will open on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at 6 pm and continue through January 28, 2022.

Hours | Exhibition is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 2:00 PM to Midnight. Time slots from 1:30 to 6:30pm and 6:15pm to Midnight need to be filled on each of those days. |
